Welcome to Jen Colman's Personal Fundraising Page!

The Division of Education and Human Studies provides travel support for students who pursue international service opportunities.

Education and Human Studies students in the past traveled to Uganda to work in an orphanage, built sustainable composting toilets in Nepal, conducted youth outreach in Cuba and engaged in organic farming in South America, just to name a few. These experiences allowed our Social Work, Education, Environmental Policy, Law, Psychology, and Criminal Justice majors the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of different cultures and the importance of service for international populations.  Our students had life-changing experiences through these service opportunities and will bring what they learned to their future careers.

We are asking for your financial support to help us provide funding for these international service experiences.

Raised of $5,000 goal.

About Our Campaign

The Champlain Education and Human Studies Division provides travel support opportunities to EHS students seeking personal enrichment and growth through the process of travel with includes service to the community or region. The voucher is intended for airfare, train or specifically other travel related costs.

Why Your Donation Matters

The faculty and staff in the Education and Human Studies Division at Champlain College financially support students who are doing service trips throughout the world, specifically in countries that have a high percentage of people living in poverty.

Students studying Psychology, Education, Criminal Justice, Law, Environmental Policy and Social Work are traveling to gain experience in doing work that will have a major impact upon communities by providing service.

Program History

Students have volunteered in an orphanage in Uganda, participated in eco-farming in South America and worked with youth in Cuba. The EHS Division believes in supporting and providing experiences for students to help them become engaged global citizens.

Where We Are Going and Why Your Support Matters

Locations of student travel vary from year to year. In the past we have funded travel to Nepal, Uganda, The Gambia, Cuba, and South America. Some students travel alone to do service or they may be traveling with a group.

This year to date applications have included Uganda and New Zealand. Students in the past have worked with teen youth groups, built composting toilets, worked on farms and plantations to study organic agricultural practices, and visited the United Nations in Geneva.
